LATEST UK BUDGET GIVES £3 BILLION OF OUR TAXES TO A GREEN ELITE

This article looks at the Green Investment Bank set up in the recent UK budget. Extraordinarily there has been very little criticism of this, even though the country is in such a dire financial situation. When will the public backlash against the increases in energy costs begin?

US ATTORNEY GENERAL BATTLES CLIMATE SCIENCE ESTABLISHMENT

This report gives an update into the battle by Attorney General, Ken Cuccinelli, into the possible dishonest goings on of Professor Michael Mann, whose Hockey Stick graph has been roundly criticised by many scientists. It is not surprising that scientists are closing ranks to try to prevent Cucinelli from getting his hands on the evidence, as they all have a lot to lose.

SEE WHAT OUR MASTERS IN BRUSSELS HAVE IN STORE FOR US

The latest newsletter from the Scientific Alliance tells us the plans of the EU Commission to drive us from our petrol or diesel driven cars. These plans are driven by ever larger financial penalties, with the ultimate sanction of the law.

More on this in the Telegraph here.

INCONVENIENT FALSE PREDICTIONS COME HOME TO ROOST

The trouble with making dramatic predictions that grab headlines is that if you get it wrong you have to pay the price in terms of credibility. Al Gore has made a number of them in his film An Inconvenient Truth, including one that the Kilimanjaro glaciers would be gone in a decade. This article highlights that this was way out. The glaciers will be around for about another 50 years.

US HAS EARTH'S LARGEST ENERGY RESERVES

So why are most of them 'off limits'? This article takes you through the arguments. The evidence is provided by a Congressional Research paper that has been recently published. It certainly makes me wonder why the USA goes to so much trouble to import their fuel when they are sitting right on top of it.

NEW UK CARBON TAX COULD UNDERMINE INDUSTRY

This article on the BBC website explains the concerns of energy intensive industry to the first such tax in the world to be imposed on carbon emissions. What madness can grip a government so that it imposes crippling extra charges on its industries while trying to get the country back on its feet?

THE STRANGE CASE OF SARI KOVATS

"Sari Kovats?", I hear you say, "Who on earth is she?" Well actually she is one of the leading authors in the IPCC, no less! This article looks closely at her qualifications and experience for such a senior position and finds her wanting in both aspects. It seems strange why such an obviously inexperienced and under qualified person should be put into such a prestigious position and then rapidly promoted. Maybe we will find out if Donna Laframboise does some more of her excellent detective work. Her blog is well worth reading and I am going to add it to my blog roll.

GAS IS THE FUTURE

Even before the Japanese reactor problems, according to this report the arrival of the new shale gas technology has made the decision financially much better for gas. As the evidence for CO2 causing any climate change gets weaker the case for gas becomes overwhelming.

EU CLIMATE CHANGE POLICY EXPERT FLOUNDERS IN INTERVIEW

Here is an exerpt from an Australian radio show in which Jill Duggan, a British woman who is introduced as a climate change policy expert. The part where Jill is interviewed is about halfway. If you play the clip you will understand why climate change experts are so reluctant to take part in any combative interviews, as they are so easily shown up. This 'expert' was found to have no idea what the cost of reducing carbon emissions would have on the UK or the European economy; she had no idea what effect the cuts would have on future temperatures. Of course this is not surprising because short of making up figures she had no choice but to admit she had no idea. There are no figures other than estimates, and those do not support her argument.

ALARMIST PREDICTIONS COME BACK TO HAUNT THEM

MANN & CO FEEL THE HEAT

The flawed and weak inquiries into the climategate scandal have been reported on this blog many times. It appeared that despite the damning emails the scientists themselves had got away with it. But that may not be so according to this report in WUWT Blog. The net seems to be tightening - let's hope the truth will come out in the end.

A POEM PUTS THE AUSSIE FLOODS IN THEIR PLACE

The recent Queensland floods have prompted the most extreme climate alarmists to say that, like the droughts that preceded them, they are caused by man-made CO2 emissions. This has stretched people's credulity to such limits that they are beginning to have doubts about the whole idea of man-made global warming. Here Clive James looks at a poem beloved by Australians to find the truth about the Australian climate. The truth is, of course, that the climate varies and has always varied from drought to flood without any change in CO2.

UK ENERGY POLICY - USE IT WHEN YOU CAN

This clip from the Telegraph (not on line for some reason) refers to the head of the National Grid talking about a future in which electricity is not always available on demand. It sounds like a policy for political suicide to me, though I think the government could stumble into this situation by accident, but I never thought they would actually plan for it to happen.

CLIMATE SENSITIVITY A DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVE

Here's an article which looks at climate sensitivity, and concludes that it is a lot less than the IPCC try to make out. The science is far from settled.

COULD CO2 HAVE A COOLING EFFECT?

This paper looks at the science behind the greenhouse theory, and comes to the opposite conclusion to that of the IPCC. The science is not easy to follow unless you are familiar with heat transfer equations, but the fact that scientists can argue for such different conclusions is, in itself, testament to the fact that the science is far from settled.

USA GOVERNMENT MAY SHELVE CLIMATE ACTION

Republicans are putting a lot of pressure on President Obama to cut taxes and reduce funding to the EPA according to this report in the Guardian. If this happens it will mean at least a delay in the enforcement of CO2 emissions control which they are supposed to be bringing in. More on this here.

UNSCIENTIFIC CLAIMS THAT FLOODS WERE CAUSED BY GW

This piece by Christopher Booker looks at claims of flooding being caused by global warming, and finds they were seriously flawed. How many times will alarmist claims be de-bunked, I wonder?
